The UK Government has today published its new UK Space Strategy, setting out an integrated approach to growing the UK’s space sector, strengthening national security and developing the capabilities needed for the future.
The new strategy replaces the National Space Strategy published in 2021 and brings government space investment and activity together under a single plan. It is backed by £7.8 billion of investment to 2030.
The strategy focuses on four priority areas: Satellite Communications; In-Orbit Servicing, Assembly and Manufacturing; Space Domain Awareness; and Assured Access to Space.
For Wales, the publication comes at an important time for our growing space ecosystem, with businesses, academia and the wider public sector contributing capabilities and expertise across the space economy.
Space Wales will continue to work with organisations across Wales, our fellow UK space clusters and government partners to support the strategy’s delivery and help translate national ambitions into opportunities for growth, innovation and collaboration.
The strategy also reinforces the importance of partnership across the UK as the sector continues to develop, creating new opportunities for organisations to contribute to national capabilities and the wider space economy.
